Legendary defender Marcelo‍‍`s time at Brazilian Serie A club Fluminense has come to an end.

His contract was canceled after a disagreement with the coach, Mano Menezes.

The club confirmed this news on Saturday, but they did not explain why the contract was terminated.

The situation became public when a video showing Marcelo and Menezes arguing went viral on social media.

This incident happened during a match against Grêmio at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, which ended in a 2-2 draw last Friday.

In the video, Marcelo was getting ready to come on as a substitute in the final minutes of the game.

He stood on the sidelines next to coach Menezes, who had his hand on Marcelo‍‍`s shoulder, seemingly encouraging him.

However, just before Marcelo was supposed to enter the match, he said something to the coach that upset him.

Menezes reacted strongly, getting into a heated exchange with Marcelo.

At one point, the coach pushed Marcelo aside and called on another player, John Kennedy, to replace him instead.

After this confrontation, Marcelo sat down on the bench, leading to the news of his contract cancellation.

Now, Marcelo is a free agent and can look for a new team.

After the game, Menezes explained his decision.

He said, "I was planning to put Marcelo in, but I heard something that I didn’t like, so I changed my mind."

Marcelo has had a remarkable career.

He started playing with Fluminense‍‍`s youth team in 2002 and made his professional debut in 2005.

His talent took him to Real Madrid in 2007, where he won 25 trophies, including several UEFA Champions League titles.

Earlier this year, in February, Marcelo returned to Fluminense after a short stint with Olympiacos.

The club celebrated his return by naming their training center after him, honoring his contributions.

Despite the excitement of returning, this recent incident has been disappointing for both Marcelo and his fans.

Fluminense has stated that ending the contract will not damage their relationship with Marcelo.

They emphasized that their bond remains strong and thanked him for his service.

The club also promised to support him in his future endeavors, showing that their connection is more than just a contract.
